Normal Retirement
Your Normal Pension Date is your 60th birthday (your 55th birthday if you are a Fire Service member).
What do I need to do?
Your retirement quotation
Approximately 3 months before your Normal Pension Date, you will receive a retirement quotation along with full details of the options available to you.
Review your options
You will need to review your quotation carefully to determine whether you would still like to retire at your Normal Pension Date and if so what option you would like to take, or whether you wish to retire later.
Confirming your choice
If you would like to go ahead, complete the paperwork you have received and send it back to the Administration team.
You will then receive confirmation of the date your chosen retirement benefits will be paid.
Things to consider
- Your Normal Pension Date under the Scheme is your 60th birthday (your 55th birthday if you are a Fire Service member), however you may wish to consider deferring, or taking your benefits early because;
- Of a personal lifestyle choice;
- Of other retirement benefits you may have; or
- You wish to build up as much benefit value as you can.
- The earliest you can receive your State Pension is when you reach State Pension Age but again you do have the option to defer this. Visit the www.GOV.UK website for more information.
